The tableau in ‘In Repose’ is created with a collection of stylised female sculptures.

These figurines are characterised by an exaggerated anatomy with different coloured glazes, which embody their femininity and individuality.

Here, in this tableau, they have been arranged to assert the value of social interaction. In a collective, people need to coexist as a united support group for each individual’s wellbeing.

My arrangement of these figurines, grouped together but isolated in their acrylic boxes, depicts the illusion of being connected with people and the superficiality of togetherness. In actuality, they are living in self-segregation.
